Centreville High School has been the home for many quality productions over the years. The director, Mike Hudson, is quite versatile in his directing abilities and chooses to showcase his students’ abilities in a variety of genres.

The 2015-2016 school year, Theatre Centreville’s season consisted of Almost, Maine and The Three Musketeers. 

Almost, Maine 

In Fall of 2015, Theatre Centreville produced the vastly popular romantic comedy Almost, Maine by the rapidly growing author Jon Cariani. Taking place in the mythical northern town of Almost, Maine, the show consisted of nine individual stories exploring themes such as love, loss, and friendship. Although the show had a modest turnout, members of the community applauded the actors for the subtlety of their performances, and the technical students for their creation of such a wonderful winter wonderland.

The Three Musketeers

In the Spring of 2016, Theatre Centreville produced a creative adaptation of the well-known classic by Alexander Dumas. The show followed the hero, D’Artagnan, in his adventure with extravagant costumes, flashy sword-fights, and vengeful rivalries on a quest to become one of the King’s Musketeers.

During the 2014-2015 school year, Theatre Centreville’s season consisted of Beauty and the Beast and Arsenic and Old Lace.

Beauty and the Beast

In 2015, Theatre Centreville produced the extremely popular Beauty and the Beast for which it received two Cappies’ nominations. The show garnered widespread enthusiasm from the community, selling out four out of its five shows and received an overwhelming amount of praise for its superb technology, excellent actors, and student-directed choreography.

Arsenic and Old Lace

Theatre Centreville also produced the hysterical comedy Arsenic and Old Lace. The actors employed their great sense of comedic timing and acting prowess to capture the audience with this dark but humorous tale. The show did an excellent job of exhibiting the talents of the students within the department by displaying the beautifully constructed set, consisting of hand-painted walls, as well as the excellent makeup application.

Funny Money

Theatre Centreville earned itself a cappie nomination with their production of Ray Cooney’s hysterical comedy Funny Money. The British play follows the activities of one man, and his wife, as they find themselves in the possession of a brief case of £750,000. Filled with misunderstandings, inconvenient dinner guests, and criminal gun-wielders, this hilarious play received a warm reception from all members in the audience.
